Tulsa softball upsets top ranked OSU, Oakland men’s basketball upsets Kentucky, Oklahoma State lets go of men’s basketball coach
Reign ‘cane! Tulsa softball beats top ranked Oklahoma State this week. This win gives coach Crissy Strimple her 100th career win as head coach. This was exciting news to me because it reminded me of when I played for the Tulsa Hurricane. We beat OSU when I played at Tulsa and it was electric. Now that the Cowgirls are top ranked, it makes it even more exciting. I’m so excited for the Tulsa girls and coach Crissy Strimple. Being a former Tulsa softball player, this made me proud to watch the younger athletes represent my alma mater and compete at a high level.
Kentucky gets upset
It’s March Madness, and with that madness there’s going to be upsets. Oakland, ranked 14, upset number 3 ranked Kentucky in men’s basketball this week. Standout player Jack Gohlke made 10 of the 15 3-point shots in the game against the Wildcats. This earns the Golden Grizzlies their first ever competition in the second round of March Madness. This is proof that no one is invincible and that’s why it’s called madness.m Anything can happen. These athletes will remember this season for ever and be a reminder that they can achieve anything, even if the odds are against them.
OSU lets go of men’s basketball coach
After seven seasons and a losing record season this year, Oklahoma State let go of their men’s basketball head coach. The athletic director for OSU wishes him and his family the best. The lesson to be learned here is things need to be done to have a winning team. Maybe he just wasn’t the right fit for OSU. He might be the right fit for another program. He can learn from this experience and become the next best head coach. Some lessons are learned in a difficult way and this is one of those moments of hitting a bump in the road. A good coach should always be learning. This is definitely a good learning moment. This is important for former athletes to understand because a lot of us are coaches. We’ll experience losses. We’ll sometimes experience hardships like this one. How we bounce back and move on from it says a lot.
